Leh, town, Ladakh union territory, northern India. The town is located in the valley of the upper Indus River at an elevation of 11,550 feet (3,520 metres), surrounded by the towering peaks of the Ladakh Range (a southeastern extension of the Karakoram Range).
NUBRA VALLEY
Nubra, also called Dumra, is a historical region of Ladakh, India that is currently administered as a subdivision and a tehsil in the Leh district. Its inhabited areas form a tri-armed valley cut by the Nubra and Shyok rivers. Its Tibetan name Dumra means “valley of flowers”.
PANGONG
Pangong Lake, situated at a height of almost 4,350m, is the world’s highest saltwater lake. Its water, which seems to be dyed in blue, stand in stark contrast to the arid mountains surrounding it. Extending to almost 160km, one-third of the Pangong Lake lies in India and the other two-thirds in China.
TSOMORIRI
Chushul is a village in the Leh district of Ladakh, India. It is located in the Durbuk tehsil, in the area known as “Chushul Valley”, south of the Pangong Lake and west of the Spanggur Lake. The Line of Actual Control with China runs about 5 miles east of Chushul, across the Chushul Valley.
Itinerary
Day 1 - ARRIVE
Arrive at Leh Airport, On arrival check-in at the hotel. Rest of the day is at leisure to acclimatize to the high altitude of Ladakh. In the evening you may take a walk to the local market but we highly recommend to give complete rest to the body. Overnight at the hotel in Leh.
Day 2 - LEH-FULL DAY EXCURSION TO SHAM VALLEY TILL SANGAM
Today morning after breakfast, proceed for full day excursion to Sham Valley. Visit Hall of Fame, which was constructed by the Indian Army to commemorate the sacrifice of soldiers during Indo-Pak wars. Also visit Mahakal Temple and Spituk Gompa – an 11th century structure, next on the list of attractions is the majestic Gurdwara Patthar Sahib. Nestled deep in the Himalayas, it was constructed by the Lamas of Leh in 1517 to honour the visit of Guru Nanak Dev – the founder of the Sikh faith. Drive another few kms to witness the magic of Magnetic Hill that defies the law of gravity. It has been noticed that when a vehicle is parked on neutral gear on this metallic road, it seems to slide up and further. Driving through a picturesque landscape, we reach the confluence of the Indus and Zanskar River (Sangam). Later return back to the hotel via same route. In the evening, you may take a walk around the beautiful town and explore the local flavours it offers to the visitor. Overnight at the hotel in Leh.
Day 3 - LEH-NUBTA
Today morning after breakfast, drive to Nubra Valley via Khardungla (Highest Motorable road in the world, 18,380ft). On the way visit Desert Himalaya Adventure Park where you can have lunch and enjoy adventure activities like World’s longest High Altitude Zip line and ATV ride at Khalsar sand dunes (On your own). Continue your drive to Nubra. On-arrival at Nubra check-in at the hotel/camp. Rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight at the hotel/ camp in Nubra.
Day 4 - NUBAR- HALF DAY CITY SIGHTSEEEING
Today morning after breakfast, enjoy half day city sightseeing of Nubra. Visit 108ft high Maitriya Buddha Statue at Diskit monastery and Hunder Sand Dunes where you can enjoy double humped camel ride (On Your Own). Later return back to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel/ camp in Nubra.
Day 5 - NUBRA-PANGONG LAKE
Today morning after breakfast, drive to Pangong Lake (14,500ft) through the Shayok River Valley. A beautiful drive of approx. 04hrs and you’ll be at one of the most beautiful places of the planet. On arrival in Pangong check-in at the hotel/camp. Later spend some time around the lake visiting the 03 Idiot shooting point, try local food at any of the small restaurant around the Lake shore. Evening time is at leisure you canenjoy the colour changing lake and the sun set on the banks of lake. Return back to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel/ camp in Pangong Lake.
Day 6 - PANGONG LAKE-TSOMARIRI VIA TSAGALA
Today morning after breakfast, drive to alongside the Pangong lake towards Tsomoriri Lake. It is a breathtaking journey on a trail that is literally a ‘no mans’ land. Vast lonely stretches on the Chanthang plateau makes this drive one of the best isolated drives of this tour. En-route cross the faraway settlement of Chusul. Tsomoriri is situated at an altitude of 4511m above sea level, with an area of about 140sq.km. On arrival in Tsomoriri check-in at the hotel/camp. Later spend your evening watching shadows of the surrounding mountain and the varying depths of Tsomoriri lake. Overnight at the hotel/ camp in Tsomoriri.
Day 7 - TSOMORIRI-PUGA VALLEY-TSOKAR LAKE-TAGLANGLA PASS-LEH
Today morning after breakfast, drive to Tsokar lake which lies about 60km from Tso Moriri. On the midway about 35kms from Tsomoriri we reach Puga Hot Springs in the Changthang Valley in the south-eastern part of Ladakh. It is a region of great significance known for its natural beauty and geothermal activities. This 30km long valley is an absolute treat for nature lovers as one gets to drive around the valley while admiring the mountains, many of which are snow-capped, and also the trees, boulders, salt deposits, etc. It is an excellent place for photography. Continue drive for 22kms and reach Tsokar Lake. One can also spot sheep, yak, bar-headed geese, Brahminy ducks, black-necked cranes and more wildlife here. Situated at a height of 15,280ft, it is also called white lake due to the white salt content in the water deposits on its shore, it leaves visitors in awe of its beauty. The area surrounding the lake is rife with wildlife and flora, and it also makes for an important point for bird watchers, especially during migration season when several species come here to lay their eggs, including the black-necked cranes. Drive for another hour to reach Manali – Leh Highway and cross Tanglang La Pass which is one of the incredible high altitude mountain passes in Ladakh located at an altitude of 5,328meters, or 17,480feet. What makes it a famous tourist attraction in Ladakh is the incredible views it offers & the sheer excitement of crossing it, which is no less than an adventure. On arrival in Leh check-in at the hotel. Overnight at the hotel in Leh.
Day 8 - DEPART LEH
Today morning after breakfast, you will be transferred to Leh Airport to board your flight back home or to your next destination
