Leh is the joint capital and largest city of Ladakh, a union territory of India. Leh, located in the Leh district, was also the historical capital of the Kingdom of Ladakh.
Itinerary
Day 1 - ARRIVE LEH
Arrive at Leh Airport, our representative will meet and assist you and later you will be transfer to the hotel in Leh. On arrival check-in at the hotel. Rest of the day is at leisure to acclimatize to the high altitude of Ladakh. In the evening you may take a walk to the local market but we highly recommend to give complete rest to the body. Overnight at the hotel in Leh.
Day 2 - LEH-FULL DAY EXCURSION TO SHAM VALLEY TILL SANGAM
Today morning after breakfast, proceed for full day excursion to Sham Valley. Visit Hall of Fame, which was constructed by the Indian Army to commemorate the sacrifice of soldiers during Indo-Pak wars. Also visit Mahakal Temple and Spituk Gompa – an 11th century structure, next on the list of attractions is the majestic Gurdwara Patthar Sahib. Nestled deep in the Himalayas, it was constructed by the Lamas of Leh in 1517 to honour the visit of Guru Nanak Dev – the founder of the Sikh faith. Drive another few mks to witness the magic of Magnetic Hill that defies the law of gravity. It has been noticed that when a vehicle is parked on neutral gear on this metallic road, it seems to slide up and further. Driving through a picturesque landscape, we reach the confluence of the Indus and Zanskar River (Sangam). Later return back to hotel via same route. In the evening, you may take a walk around the beautiful town and explore the local flavours it offers to the visitor. Overnight at the hotel in Leh.
Day 3 - LEH-FULL DAY EXCURION TO KHARDUNGLA PASS
Today morning after breakfast, prepare yourself for the ultimate adventure of your life. We will drive upto the Khardungla Top to have a magnificent view of the surrounding valleys. Famously known as the gateway to the Nubra and Shyok Valleys in the Ladakh, it is the highest motorable pass in the world. It is filled with tourist crossing over from Leh and stopping long enough to click some photographs. Adventure bikers from all parts of our country and across the world visit this mountain pass on their motorcycles for an adventure soaked experience. Khardung La Pass is positioned on the Ladakh range, which is 40km from Leh, at an altitude of 18,379ft (5602m). After spending some time at the pass, return back to your hotel in Leh. Rest of the evening is free to explore the town (On Your Own). Overnight at the hotel in Leh.
Day 4 - LEH-FULL DAY EXKURSION TO PANGONG LAKE
Today morning after breakfast, drive to Pangong Lake (14,500ft) through the Indus River Valley. A beautiful drive of approx. 04hours and you’ll be at one of the most beautiful places of the planet. Spend some time around the lake shore visit 03 Idiot shooting point, try local food at any of the small restaurant around the Lake shore. Post lunch drive back to Leh crossing the mighty Changla pass at 17000ft once again. Overnight at the hotel in Leh.
Day 5 - LEH-FULL DAY INDUS VALLEY MONASTERY TOUR
Today morning after breakfast, proceed for full day Indus Valley monastery tour starting from Shey Palace on a hillock 15kms upstream from Leh, it was once the residence of the royal family. A 7.5mts high copper statue of Buddha, plated with gold and the largest of its kind, is installed here. A drive of another 05kms will bring us to Thiksey Monastery which is one of the largest and architecturally most impressive Gompas of Ladakh. There are several temples in this Gompas, containing images, stupas and wall paintings of Buddha, which are exquisite. Finally we drive to Hemis, approx. 40kms from Leh, it is the wealthiest, best known and biggest Gompa of Ladakh. Hemis was built in 1630 and is divided into two parts, the assembly hall on the right and the main temple on the left. After visiting Hemis drive back to Leh. En- route two brief halts at Druk Pema Karpo School AKA Rancho’s School (03 Idiot fame) and Sindhu Ghaat where the annual Sindhu Darshan festival is held. Reach Leh and relax at the hotel or just walk to Leh market for any last minute souvenir shopping. Overnight at the hotel in Leh.
Day 6 - DEPART LEH
Today morning after breakfast, you will be transferred to Leh Airport to board your flight back home or to your next destination.
