Attarine Medersa

The Attarine Medersa in Fez, built in the 14th century by Sultan Abu Sa’id, is a masterpiece of Marinid architecture. Renowned for its intricate zellige tilework, carved cedar wood, and stucco decorations, the madrasa served as both a religious school and a residence for students of the nearby Al Quaraouiyine University. Its central courtyard with a marble fountain reflects the harmony of Islamic artistry and spirituality. Visiting the Attarine Medersa offers a glimpse into Morocco’s scholarly heritage and exquisite architectural traditions.

Ruins of Volubilis – Ancient Roman City, Morocco

Itinerary

Day 1 : ARRIVE CASABLANCA

Arrive at Casablanca airport, Transfer to the hotel and check-in. Rest of the day is at Leisure for you to explore on your own. Overnight at at the hotel in Casablanca.

Day 2 :CASABLANCA – RABAT – TANGIER

Today, proceed for Casablanca city tour. Visit the economic capital of Morocco: the central market, the Habous district, the Royal palace, the Mohammed V square, the residential area of Anfa and the outside of the Hassan II Mosque. Then, proceed to Rabat. Rabat City tour includes the Royal palace (Mechouar), the Kasbah Oudaya, the Mohammed V mausoleum and the Hassan Tower. Later on, proceed to Tangier. Overnight at the hotel in Tangier.

Day 3 : TANGIER – CHEFCHAOUEN – FRZ

Today, proceed for a half day city tour of the Tangier city. Visit the Kasbah of Tangier: the Kasbah, old palace area, is above the harbor and the city heights. You can also discover prehistoric and ancient remains of Tangier. Visit the large and small Socco. Visit the Legation of the United States. Then, proceed to Chefchaouen. Chefchaouen is a popular shopping destination as well, as it offers many native handicrafts that are not available elsewhere in Morocco, such as wool garments and woven blankets. The goat cheese native to the area is also popular with tourists. Later on, proceed to Fez. Overnight at the hotel in Fez.

Day 4 : FEZ – CITY TOUR

Today, proceed for the city tour of Fez city. The whole day is devoted to the sightseeing of Fez, the spiritual capital of Morocco. Visit the medieval Medina and its Attarine and Bou Inania Medersas, the Nejjarine fountain and Karaouine mosque. In the afternoon, visit Fez Jdid. Overnight at hotel in Fez.

Day 5 : FRZ MEKMES – VOLUBILIS – FEZ

Today, embark on a day trip to Meknes & Volubilis. Upon arrival at Meknes. Begin your tour of Meknes at Bab Mansour. Enter Place El-Hedime (Square of Ruins) which links the medina and the Kasbah. The square is lined with modern residential buildings and a covered food souk (market). Mosque, Menzah (pavilion), courtyard, kitchen and Hammam. Departure to Volubilis. Volubilis has been recognized by UNESCO as a world heritage site and gained international acclaim when Martin Scorsese made it as feature location for his film, The Last Temptation of Christ. Begin your visit by discovering the fascinating Roman ruins adorned with beautiful mosaics and colorful tiles depicting Roman mythology. The ruins are spread out across several acres and what remains visible is several fragments of wall, parts of massive columns, the capital, the basilica and a triumphal arch. Return to Fez. Overnight at hotel in Fez.

Day 6 : FEZ – MIDELT – ERFOUD

Today, depart to Ouarzazate. Take the road to Rissani, the holy city where Moulay Ali Cherif, ancestor of the Alaouite dynasty is buried. Visit the Kasbah of the 17th century and the Ksar Abbar ruins before continuation to Tinghir via the Tinjdad road. Visit the magnificent Todgha canyons which has rocks reaching an altitude of 250m. Continue to Ouarzazate via the road of the 1000 Kasbahs and the Dades valley, famous for its roses and the yearly Moussem (rose festival). Dinner & Overnight at hotel in Ouarzazate.

Day 7 : ERFOUND – MERZOUGA

Today, depart to Erfoud. Proceed to Erfoud via the mountains and the cedar woods of the Middle Atlas, passing by Ifrane, a charming ski resort, and Azrou, an important handicraft center. Later on, continue to Erfoud via Errachidia and the Ziz valley, dotted with palm trees, source of the yearly festival in Erfoud. Overnight at Erfoud camp.

Day 8 : MERZOUGA – TINGHIR – OUARZAZATE

Today, Ddpart to Merzouga. You can climb the dunes or you can opt for a camel ride to the top of the dune where you will admire the sunset. You take a traditional Bedouin dinner and will spend the night under the starry sky of the desert, in a Bedouin tent. Overnight at Merzouga camp.

Day 9 : OUARZAZATE – TAROUDANT

Today, depart to Taroudant. Mountain crossing to Taliouine, capital of saffron. Then we will cross the plain of Souss. Visit the oasis of Tiout. Continue to Taroudant and visit this picturesque city still nicknamed “Little Marrakech” and characterized by its belt of red ocher walls surrounded by gardens, eucalyptus, olive trees, pomegranates and palm trees. Overnight at the hotel in Taroudant.

Day 10 : TAROUNT – AGADIR

Today, depart to Agadir. Agadir is a major city in Morocco, located on the shore of the Atlantic Ocean near the foot of the Atlas Mountains, just north of the point where the Sous River flows into the ocean. It is 508 km south of Casablanca. It is the capital of the Agadir-Ida Ou Tanane Prefecture and of the Massa economic region. A majority of its inhabitants speak Shilha/Tashelhit, a Berber language of the Atlas branch, as their first language. Overnight at the hotel in Agadir.

Day 11 : AGADIR – ESSAOUIRA

Today, depar to Essaouira. Visit the old Mogador, city built by the Portuguese in white and blue colors. Visit the ramparts and the Medina famous for its crafts and especially for its woodwork. Visit the fishing port located at the foot of the ramparts and offers a permanent show in an exuberance of colors. Visit the Navy Gate and the Mellah. Overnight at the hotel in Essaouira.

Day 12 : ESSAOUIRA – MARRAKECH

Today, depart to Marrakech. Rest of the day is at Leisure for you to explore on your own. Overnight at the hotel in Marrakech.

Day 13 :MARRAKECH

Today, proceed to Marrakech city tour, the second oldest Imperial city, known as the Pearl of the South. The city was founded by the Almoravides at the end of the 11th century. The historical sightseeing includes the Menara gardens, the Bahia palace and the Koutoubia. Visit the souks and handicraft quarters, displaying a variety of items and the famous place Djemaa El Fna with its nonstop entertainment. Overnight at the hotel in Marrakech.

Day 14 : MARRAKECH – CASABLANCA

Today, depart to Casablanca. Visit the medina of Casablanca (the visit will take place today if it was not done at the beginning of the tour). Day at leisure. Overnight at the hotel in Casablanca.
