UDAIPUR

UDAIPUR

Udaipur, formerly the capital of the Mewar Kingdom, is a city in the western Indian state of Rajasthan. Founded by Maharana Udai Singh II in 1559, it’s set around a series of artificial lakes and is known for its lavish royal residences. City Palace, overlooking Lake Pichola, is a monumental complex of 11 palaces, courtyards and gardens, famed for its intricate peacock mosaics.

HALDIGHATI AND EKLING JI

Haldighati – Situated towards the southwest of Nathdwara, the historical site of Haldighati witnessed the great battle fought between Maharana Pratap and the Mughal army in 1576 AD. Eklingji – built in the 8th century, Eklingji in Udaipur is a Hindu temple complex consisting of about 108 temples.

CHITTORGARH

Chittorgarh, said to have been originally built by Bhim, one of the Pandavas. Though deserted now, impressive reminders of its grandeur still stand. Places to visit are Rana Kumbha’s palace, Fateh Prakash palace, Jaya Stambh (Tower of Victory) built by Rana Kumbha to commemorate his victory over Khiljis of Malwa in 1440. Also visit Keerti Stambh or Tower of Fame, dedicated to Adinath and decorated with figures of various Jain Tirthankars. The entrance of the Chittorgarh is highly attractive with seven huge entries, namely Bhairon Pol, Lakshman Pol, Padan Pol, Hanuman Pol, Jorla Pol, Ganesh Pol and the main royal gate known as Ram Pol.

RANAKPUR

Ranakpur which has the largest Jain temple complex in India and dates to the 15th century. The main temple is dedicated to Adinath, the first Tirthankar.

KUMBHALGARH

Kumbhalgarh Fort – the unconquerable fortress is secured under the kind protection of the Aravali ranges. It is stated to be the second longest wall in the world, the first being ‘‘The Great Wall of China”. The huge complex of the Fort has numerous palaces, also visit Badal Mahal Palace and Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary.

Day 1 - ARRIVE UDAIPUR

Arrive at Udaipur Airport/ Railway station, you will be transferred to the hotel in Udaipur. On arrival check-in at the hotel. Set on the shores of Lake Pichola and surrounded by hills, Udaipur grew in complete contrast to the harsh deserts of the rest of Rajasthan. Rest of the time is at leisure to explore the city on your own. Overnight at the hotel in Udaipur.

Today morning after breakfast, proceed for full day city sightseeing. Visit the City Palace and Museum, than visit Crystal Gallery – situated at the Fateh Prakash Palace, Also, visit the 17th century Jagdish temple, the Sahelion ki Bari (the Garden for the Maids of Honour). Later visit Shilpagram and Udaipur Vintage collection of classic cars. Evening time is at leisure to take a walk in the Old City on your own. Return back to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel in Udaipur.

Today morning after breakfast, proceed for full day excursion to Ekling Temple, Haldighati and Nagda Temples. Eklingji – built in the 8th century, Eklingji in Udaipur is a Hindu temple complex consisting of about 108 temples. Proceed to visit Nagda, Nagda was first capital of Mewar kingdom and now left with ruins of temple known as Saas-Bahu temple dated 10th century. Later proceed to Haldighati – Situated towards the southwest of Nathdwara, the historical site of Haldighati witnessed the great battle fought between Maharana Pratap and the Mughal army in 1576 AD. You will visit the Maharana Pratap Smarak & Museum, Chetak Horse Samadhi, and Rakta Talai. Later in the evening take a boat ride on the 4km long and 3km wide Lake Pichola (On your Own), which is fringed with hills, palaces, havelis, ghats, embankments and temples and offers spectacular view of Lake Pichola. Return back to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel in Udaipur.

Today morning after breakfast, proceed for full day excursion to Chittorgarh. Chittorgarh, said to have been originally built by Bhim, one of the Pandavas. Visit the 37m high Jaya Stambh (Tower of Victory) built by Rana Kumbha to commemorate his victory over Khiljis of Malwa in 1440. Also see the 22m high Keerti Stambh or Tower of Fame, dedicated to Adinath and decorated with figures of various Jain Tirthankars. The entrance of the Chittorgarh is highly attractive with seven huge entries, namely Bhairon Pol, Lakshman Pol, Padan Pol, Hanuman Pol, Jorla Pol, Ganesh Pol and the main royal gate known as Ram Pol. Major attractions in Chittorgarh include the amazing Chittorgarh fort, Keerti Stambh, Victory tower or Vijay Stambh, Rani Padmini’s Palace, Rana Kumbha’s Palace and many beautiful imposing temples of great past. Evening is at leisure to walk around in the colorful and bustling bazaars for personal exploration or shopping. Return back to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel in Udaipur.

Today morning after breakfast, proceed for full day excursion to Ranakpur & Kumbhalgarh. Proceed to Ranakpur which has the largest Jain temple complex in India and dates to the 15th century. The main temple is dedicated to Adinath, the first Tirthankar. (Leather belts, footwear, bare legs and black clothing not allowed). Later drive to Kumbhalgarh, is one of the finest examples of defensive fortifications in Rajasthan. Visit Kumbhalgarh Fort – the unconquerable fortress is secured under the kind protection of the Aravali ranges. It is stated to be the second longest wall in the world, the first being ‘‘The Great Wall of China”. The huge complex of the Fort has numerous palaces, also visit Badal Mahal Palace and if you have time than visit Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary (On your own). Return back to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel in Udaipur.

Today morning after breakfast, you will be transferred to Udaipur Airport/ Railway Station to board your flight/ train back home or to your next destination.
